Keynote Speaker:

Dr. Dwinita Mosby Tyler

Dr. Dwinita Mosby Tyler is the Chief Catalyst and Founder of The Equity Project, LLC – an organization designed to support organizations and communities in building diversity, equity and inclusion strategies; and the founder of The HR Shop, LLC - a human resources firm designed to support non-profits and small businesses.

She is the former Senior Vice President and Chief Inclusion Officer for Children’s Hospital Colorado, also the first African American woman to hold that position in the organizations 100+ year history. In addition, held the title as the Executive Director of the Office of Human Resources for the City and County of Denver, also being the first African American woman to hold that position in the 63+ year history of the agency.

Dr. Mosby Tyler, a consultant accredited by the Georgetown University National Center for Cultural Competence and recipient of the Cornell University Diversity & Inclusion certification, is nationally recognized for her equity work with non-profit, community, government and corporate organizations.

Dr. Mosby Tyler holds a doctorate in the field of Organizational Leadership, a Master of Arts degree in Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.

Katharine Allen

 

Katharine Allen is a community and conference-trained interpreter with over three decades of experience interpreting, training, and designing curricula. She is a licensed trainer and co-author for The Indigenous Interpreter®, The Community Interpreter® International, and the upcoming The Remote Interpreter® textbooks and training programs. She worked for 10 years to raise the profile of interpreting as co-President of InterpretAmerica. Katharine is a founding member of the American Association of Interpreting and Translation in Education (AAITE). She recently joined Boostlingo as their Language Access Training Specialist. Katharine has an MA in Translation and Interpretation from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies.

Tory Baldwin

In her role as Translation & Interpretation Services Coordinator for Jeffco Public Schools, Tory Baldwin supports a team of translators, interpreter/liaisons, and technicians who facilitate communication with multilingual families, thereby empowering all families as equitable partners in pursuit of their students’ education. With approximately 69,000 students, Jeffco is Colorado’s second-largest district, with more than 4,000 multilingual parents/guardians and over 100 languages in the community. A graduate of Yale and former Fulbright recipient, Tory holds an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from CU Denver. with an emphasis in Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education.

Giovanna Carriero-Contreras 

Giovanna Carriero-Contreras has been a noteworthy leader in the language industry space for over 30 years. She is a sought-after industry national and international speaker, a seasoned translator and interpreter, an interpreter trainer and a published language industry author. She is a founding member and currently the Chair of the American Association of Interpreters and Translators in Education (AAITE), where she is also a member of the Ethics and Standards Committee. Among other publications, Giovanna co-authored The Community Interpreter - International edition, the only 40-hour interpreting program in community interpreting. She is a Master Interpreter Trainer and TOT Trainer. She is also a member of ASTM Committee F43 on Language Services and Products; Chief of US Delegation for the ISO/TC 37/SC 5 for translation, interpreting, and related technology standards. She sits on the Advocacy Committee and on the Language Access Committee of the Association of Language Companies (ALC) and of the American Translators Association (ATA). Giovanna was honored with the 2020 Bill Daniels Ethical Leader of the Year Award for her unwavering commitment to principle-based ethics in business.

Mario García

Mario Garcia is the supervisor for San Diego Unified School District Special Education Translation/Interpretation Department. He has over 19 years of experience as an Interpreter/Translator in education interpretation. Mario specializes in developing workshops and curriculum targeted specifically for interpreters working in the nuanced field of Special Education. His passion for language justice and his commitment to understanding and codifying the role of education interpreters informs the methodology of his practice. Lately, he has been working to develop a best practice approach for interpreters working in hybrid environments and how the use of technology can help promote language access and equity.

Milly Golia

Milly Golia is a Ph.D. candidate - Master’s In Translation (Double major in Translation and Interpreting (University of La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina) Conference Interpreter (Lucille Barnes, Argentina) Applied Project Management Certificate & Global Operations Management Certificate. (University of California, Irvine) Milly Golia has developed the Spanish Interpreting Certificate for the University of California at Irvine (UCI). Instructor & Lecturer of the Spanish Interpreting Certificate Program (UCI). She is also the Founder and CEO of BUREAUCOM LLC © doing business as Take5steps©, a full-service translation and interpreting company based in Southern and Northern California, delivering solutions in over 20 languages. The new business unit, an academic center called Take5steps©, trains translators, interpreters, and other professionals with specific linguistic needs.

Majd Haddad 

Majd Haddad is the founder of Glory Language Services and a former District School Community Liaison for Arabic, and is passionate about serving the community & reducing language barriers. Majd has a Bachelor's degree in Risk Management from her native Jordan, and a Master Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from California State University, Fullerton. She has over 80 hours of training in Community Interpreting, completed a Training of Trainers and is a Certified Trainer for the “Community Interpreter International” 40-60 hours program by Cross Cultural Communication. Majd is also a Certified CCHI Arabic interpreter.

Manar Kodamah 

Mrs. Manar Kodamah is a District Liaison, Educational Interpreter/Translator specializing in special education, Office of Civil Rights, Homeless -Foster students Coordinator, Culture Advocate in Dearborn Public Schools, MI, a Free Lancer, Public speaker, and trainer. Holds a BA in English literature, a translation certificate from Marygrove College, an MA in conference interpreting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Movie subtitling certificate. Over fifteen years of experience in translation, interpreting, and teaching. Member of the American Translation Association ( ATA), Michigan Translation Association (MiTiN), International Standards organization (ASTM), and American Association of Interpreters and Translators in Education (AAITE).

Genna Linton

Genna Linton is a Certified Medical Interpreter (Spanish) by the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) and a Certified Medical Screener for the Red Cross. She is currently a project manager for interpretation services at the Tennessee Language Center and has plenty of experience interpreting in medical and educational settings. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Geography and is a graduate of the Medical Interpreter Training Course provided by the Tennessee Language Center and Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Leslie Padilla Williams

Leslie Padilla-Williams has dedicated her professional career to interpreting and translating in K 12 Educational settings. She shares her vast experience as a district translator for over two decades through her company, HOLA Language Services, where she has provided language-specific interpreting training to thousands of bilingual school staff members. Her unique educational background, which includes a Law Degree in Guatemala City, a CA Adult Education Credential, a Translation Certificate from UCSD Extension, and a Professional Special Education Interpreter Certificate from the University of Georgia, has contributed to her ability to provide relevant, in-the-trenches interpreting workshops. She is a recommended language resource by the California Department of Education.

Mireya Pérez

Mireya Pérez began her interpreting career as a certified medical interpreter. She worked in a general and children's hospital and spent almost 10 years as a staffed interpreter in a K-12 public education school district. Today, Mireya is the proud creator and host of the Brand the Interpreter podcast, where she shares the stories and perspectives of language professionals from around the world. With a Master's in Communications, Mireya is committed to continue elevating the voices and stories of language professionals worldwide.

Richard Ponce de León

Richard Ponce-de-Leon is the Director of Training at the Tennessee Language Center, where he designs and manages training programs for language interpreters and translators, and diversity training programs for public and private institutions. He has a background in Linguistics, and has interpreting experience in legal, medical, and educational settings. He is a certified court interpreter in the state of Tennessee and holds a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Gabriela Siebach 

Gabriela Siebach, Director of Interpreting Services at Cesco Linguistic Services and Adjunct Professor at UMass - Amherst, has accumulated more than 15 years of professional experience as a linguist, interpreter, translator, trainer, coach, and mentor. She has spearheaded the development of multiple training and assessment programs throughout her career. Gabriela holds a graduate degree in Spanish translation and interpretation from the world-renowned Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. She currently leads various NCIHC initiatives as Chair of PERC. Gabriela also Co-chairs the AAITE Job Task Analysis Committee and is a member of CATI, ATA, NAJIT, and ASTM.
