KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Corey Ciocchetti

 

Serving as the Bill Daniels Professor of Business Ethics and Legal Studies at the University of Denver, Corey Ciocchetti is one of the University’s most popular and highest-rated professors. Corey joined DU after graduating with a law degree from Duke University School of Law, a Masters degree in Religious Studies and two Bachelors degrees in Finance and Economics—summa cum laude—from the University of Denver.
Corey is a talented speaker and teacher and has won multiple teaching and speaking awards including the Outstanding Professor of the Year Award and the Joel Goldman Award for most respected speaker on the CAMPUSPEAK roster. In 2023, he was named as one of the Top 50 Undergraduate Business Professors in the country. Corey currently teaches classes on business law and ethics in a department ranked by the Wall Street Journal and Business Week in the top ten nationwide for producing students with high ethical standards.
Corey also speaks to tens of thousands of individuals each year about “authentic success” and living an ethical life and is the author of the book Inspire Integrity: Chase An Authentic Life. He has spoken to diverse audiences in over 350 cities and 46 states over the past eighteen years. A Colorado native, Corey resides in Denver with his wife, Jillian and daughters Sophia and Sydney.

Bruce L. Adelson

Bruce L. Adelson, Esq., is CEO of Federal Compliance Consulting LLC. He is a former U.S Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Rights Division Senior Trial Attorney. During Bruce’s DOJ career, he was responsible for enforcing myriad federal laws and for writing and publishing in the Federal Register federal policies, such as the U.S. Department of Transportation’s first ever Title VI Limited English proficiency guidance: U.S. Department of Transportation’s Policy Guidance Concerning Recipients’ Responsibilities to Limited English Proficient (LEP) Persons (DOT LEP Guidance, Federal Register, December 14, 2005).
Bruce is the Title VI and ADA consultant for the Idaho Supreme Court and state courts throughout Idaho. Bruce is outside counsel for one of the largest health care systems in the United States. Bruce has advised numerous states, health care systems, non-profits, judges, lawyers, elected officials, and medical providers on federal law and the legally compliant use of AI. He has been the testifying or consulting expert in multiple lawsuits concerning federal discrimination allegations. Bruce is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Law at University of Pittsburgh School of Law where he teaches health care civil rights, liability, and organizational culture.
Bruce holds a BA in International Studies from The Johns Hopkins University and a JD from The University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He is the author of 13 books, including the award-winning Brushing Back Jim Crow – The Integration of Minor League Baseball in the American South (University of Virginia Press).

Carola Lehmacher

Carola Lehmacher is a multi-lingual freelance translator and interpreter with over fifteen years of experience working with government and industry at executive and operational levels. She holds two university degrees in Translation Studies and a master’s degree in Conference Interpreting. She is a Federally Certified Court Interpreter (FCCI) and a Master Licensed Court Interpreter in Georgia. Carola works as a conference interpreter for various local and international clients and is one of the voices of a major news network. She is the past Chair of the AAITE Ethics and Standards Committee, past President of AAIT, the Georgia chapter of ATA, and currently serves as Advisory Member to the Georgia Commission on Court Interpreters, and member of the Positions Paper Committee of NAJIT.

Giovanna Carriero-Contreras

 

Giovanna Carriero-Contreras has been a noteworthy leader in the language industry space for the past 30 years, with a particular focus on training and education. Her dynamic leadership as Founder of Cesco Linguistic Services, T360nBeyond, Chair-Elect of the American Association of Interpreters and Translators in Education (AAITE) and in other committees, has resulted in groundbreaking achievements. Giovanna played a pivotal role in releasing the AAITE National Code of Ethics for Translators and Interpreters in Education, is co-author of The Community Interpreter® International, is a seasoned trainer, trainer-of-trainers, Chief of the ISO T37/SC5 U.S. Delegation, and member of ASTM F43 Committee on Language Services, ATA Standards Committee, and ALC Language Access and Advocacy committees. Giovanna has developed and implemented comprehensive interpreter training programs and continues to shape the the future of language services training through her work, presentations and publications.

Dr. Laurence Jay-Rayon Ibrahim Aibo 

 

Dr. Laurence Jay-Rayon Ibrahim Aibo holds an M.A. in translation and a Ph.D. in translation studies from Université de Montréal, Canada. She is a certified English to French translator in Canada and certified healthcare interpreter in the United States, and has been teaching translation and interpreting since 2013 in both face-to-face and online settings. She currently teaches translation and interpreting in the Master’s of Art in Translation and Interpreting at Hunter College in New York City, the Online Certificate in Professional Translation and Interpreting at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and the Master’s in Translation and Interpreting Online at NYU. Since 2020, she has been designing and leading online training programs for The Gentzler Translation Center at the University of Massachusetts, an organization that offers language access guidance to school districts and training courses to bilingual employees in public schools, mainly dual-role interpreters and translators. She is also a curriculum designer and trainer with various organizations, including Cross-Cultural Communications (CCC), one of the leading organizations providing medical, educational, and community interpreter training in the United States. She is a regular speaker at national and international conferences.

Agustin de la Mora

Agustín de la Mora is the founder and president of the De La Mora Institute of Interpretation and a respected figure in the industry. He is a federally and state-certified court interpreter and a certified medical interpreter with over 28 years of experience. He served as lead interpreter for the Ninth Judicial Circuit and as a lead rater for federal and consortium oral exams. Agustín has trained interpreters and interpreter trainers in over 20 states and presented at major conferences such as NAJIT, ATA, IMIA, and NASCA. His innovative methodology, Weightlifting for Court Interpreters™, is valued by interpreters of all fields for its focus on deliberate practice and performance improvement. He is also the author of the acclaimed book Weightlifting for Court Interpreters: Mastering Performance Through Deliberate Practice.

Amairiany Amador

Amairiany Amador, CMI-Spanish, is a Certified Medical Interpreter with over six years of experience in healthcare and educational settings. She works at Texas Children’s Hospital in outpatient Psychiatry and at the Meyer Center for Developmental Pediatrics and Autism. There, she supports evaluations, diagnostic intakes, and follow-up care. She previously worked as an independent contractor interpreting school evaluations, IEP and ARD meetings. Certified by the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters, she has completed healthcare and court interpreter training at HCC Coleman College for Health Sciences and University of Houston–Downtown. 

Ashley Jones-Lewis

Ashley is a community interpreter with over 4 years of experience working in educational settings. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Costa Rica and is working towards becoming a certified medical and mental health interpreter. She is passionate about ensuring the families she works with receive equitable access and a positive experience in their school and community. Ashley values professional collaboration among fellow interpreters and translators, not only as a means of personal professional development, but also as a way to improve the environment in which people benefit from language services. 

Dr. Bill Rivers

Dr. Bill Rivers is Principal at WP Rivers & Associates. A former Russian<>English translator and interpreter, Russian teacher, academic researcher and administrator, and for-profit and non-profit executive, he has more than 30 years’ experience in language advocacy at the national level, with significant work in language access, culture and language for economic development and national security in the Intelligence Community, private and academic sectors, and publications in second and third language acquisition research, proficiency assessment, program evaluation, and language policy development and advocacy. Dr. River’s chairs the AAITE Advisory Board, the SAFE-AI Task Force, and the National Language Access Coalition. He earned the Ph.D. in Russian from Bryn Mawr College.

Carolin Menéndez 

Carolin Menéndez is an English–Spanish translator, editor, and linguist with over twenty years of experience in the language industry. She holds a B.A. in Linguistics and an M.A. in Translation Studies from the University of Puerto Rico. Carolin specializes in educational publishing and serves as an editorial consultant translating and editing materials for teachers and families. She also works in environmental, audiovisual, and marketing translation and provides interpretation services in school settings. Carolin is the owner of Prose Language Services in Southern California and volunteers with the American Translators Association while remaining an active member of AAITE. 

Christina Green

Christina’s linguistics leadership began after studying Modern Languages at Universidad Central de Venezuela. She is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, and French, with conversational skills in Portuguese. Three years after moving to the U.S. in 2000, she founded her agency, Green Linguistics. Christina has served as an expert witness for both the defense and prosecution and has interpreted for nationally televised live gubernatorial and presidential events. She devotes her time to various
causes, including supporting children with disabilities and international refugee relocation efforts. She served as the President of the Midwest Association of Translators and Interpreters (2012–2014, 2020–2022) and on the Board of Directors of the American Translators Association (2022–2025).
Additionally, she was the Administrator of the Interpreters Division and is the current Chair of Advocacy for the ATA. Christina was elected Chair of FIT North America, the Regional Center of the Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs / International Federation of Translators (2025–2028).

As an ATA-certified Spanish translator, Christina was one of the first certified judicial interpreters in the State of Wisconsin. She is also an authorized Italian interpreter for the courts. She provides dedicated services to various Wisconsin school districts, translates textbooks and standardized testing materials, and interprets at educational conferences.

Eliane Sfeir-Markus

Eliane Sfeir-Markus is a court-certified English-Arabic interpreter in Pennsylvania and Delaware, as well as a Certified Healthcare Interpreter. She is an adjunct professor at Widener University Delaware Law School, a licensed Community Interpreter Trainer, and an Interpreter Expert. A dedicated leader, she served on the Board of Directors of the Delaware Valley Translators Association (DVTA) since

Eliane Sfeir-Markus, CHI, is an experienced interpreter, trainer, and industry leader fluent in Arabic, English, and French. She is a Certified Healthcare Interpreter and court-certified interpreter in Pennsylvania and Delaware. As an Interpreter Expert, Eliane advises on industry standards, develops training materials, and provides guidance on interpreting ethics and best practices.
Additionally, as an Adjunct Professor at Widener University Delaware Law School, Eliane teaches court and medical interpreting and foundational interpreting skills.
Eliane is also a trainer with De La Mora Institute, where she co-designed and teaches a "Train the Trainer" course. She offers training in medical and court interpreting and webinars on professional development topics like cultural intelligence.
She is a certified John Maxwell Leadership coach and speaker.

2017 and as its president from 2020 to 2024. A certified coach and speaker with the John Maxwell Team, Eliane is recognized for training interpreters and leading sessions on cultural intelligence, unconscious bias, and ethics. Fluent in Arabic, English, and French, she holds a B.A. in Translation from Holy Spirit University in Lebanon.

Gabriela Seibach

Gabriela Espinoza Siebach, Spanish Interpreter and Adjunct Professor at UMass - Amherst, has 20 years of professional experience. Gabriela holds a graduate degree in Spanish translation and interpretation from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. Gabriela served on the AAITE Job Task Analysis Committee, and currently sits on the ATA Government Division Leadership Council and Interpretation Profession Advisory Committee. She also volunteers on several initiatives of the NCIHC Policy, Education & Research Committee. She is a member of ATA, NCIHC, AAITE, CATI, and NAJIT.

Janis  Palma

 

Janis Palma is a professional English-Spanish interpreter and translator with over 43 years of experience working as both staff and independent contractor in state and federal courts, as well as for private clients in conferences on a broad spectrum of topics. She is certified by NAJIT, the U.S. Courts, and is a Texas Master licensed interpreter. She holds a Ph.D. in Language Studies, a Master’s in Legal Studies (MLS), and an M.A. in Caribbean History and Literature. Janis Palma has been a volunteer with the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators (NAJIT) since 1986 and was awarded a Life Membership in 2006. She has presented at conferences, taught, written, and published extensively on subjects related to interpreting, language access, and language rights. Her research interests are mainly focused on the intersection between language, law, and interpreting in legal contexts. She is currently working towards a second PhD in Rhetorics, Communication and Information Design, where she plans to develop a new line of research into the rhetorics of justice and language access in the United States.

Katharine Allen

Katharine Allen is a community and conference-trained interpreter with over three decades of experience. She currently serves as Director of Language Industry Learning at Boostlingo, a SAAS technology company providing remote interpreting solutions. Katharine is a licensed trainer and co-author of The Indigenous Interpreter®, The Community Interpreter® International, and The Remote Interpreter® textbooks and training programs. She served for 10 years as co-President of InterpretAmerica, working to raise the profile of interpreting. A founding member of both the American Association of Interpreting and Translation in Education (AAITE) and the SAFE AI in Interpreting Task Force, Katharine is a long-time industry observer of technology trends. She is also a former president of the California Healthcare Interpreting Association (CHIA) and holds an MA in Translation and Interpretation from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS). 

Kelly (Grzech) Henriquez

Kelly (Grzech) Henriquez, CMI-Spanish, CHI-Spanish (she/they) is a community interpreter in Richmond, Virginia, interpreting predominantly in educational and medical settings. She has a BA in Spanish from VCU and completed their Spanish/English Translation and Interpretation program. Kelly began their career in language services at a safety net clinic and has since been interpreting both on-site and remotely, as a contractor and staff interpreter. In 2020 she also began her YouTube channel for interpreters. Shortly thereafter, Kelly became an interpreter trainer with Americans Against Language Barriers (AALB) and was recognized as the 2023 AALB Interpreter Educator of the Year. 

Lea Reyes

Lea Reyes has dedicated more than a decade to supporting multilingual families and advancing language access in education. She began her career as an interpreter and later served as a parent engagement assistant and translator, building a deep understanding of the linguistic and cultural needs of school communities. For the past three years, she has served as Interpreting Services Coordinator for Prince George’s County Public Schools (MD).
In her current role, Lea leads a team of more than 80 interpreters and oversees thousands of interpreting requests monthly. She has been instrumental in designing and facilitating professional development that strengthens interpreter practice and promotes continuous growth. A Train-the-Trainer with Community Interpreter International (TCII), she successfully implemented a TCII Summer Institute to build capacity and professional standards within the school system. Lea is a widely respected collaborative leader committed to equitable engagement.

Mireya Pérez

Mireya Pérez is a visionary leader in language access and interpreter education with over a decade of experience in public education and community interpreting. As the creator of Brand the Interpreter, she has brought global attention to the voices and experiences of interpreters through creative storytelling and insightful dialogue. Mireya is known for designing engaging professional development opportunities that challenge conventional thinking, encourage self-reflection, and highlight the human element behind language work. Her approach blends practical expertise with innovative thinking, helping professionals better understand the complexities of communication and the evolving role of interpreters in education and beyond. Through her work, she continues to reimagine how interpreters are seen, supported, and empowered.

Monica Wilson

Monica Wilson serves as Language Access Coordinator for Prince George’s County Public Schools, bringing 29 years of experience as a passionate educator and leader. A proud PGCPS graduate, she previously served as a high school Spanish teacher and World Languages Department Chair. She has long championed multilingual learners and families, coordinating the Seal of Biliteracy and collaborating with the International Parent Leadership Consortium to strengthen family engagement. In her current role, she aligns school language access needs with district outreach and services and provides training to interpreters. Ms. Wilson holds a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction and is pursuing National Board Teaching Certification.

Nora Díaz 

Nora Díaz is an English-Spanish translator and conference interpreter who enjoys using technology and finding ways to increase productivity, which combined with her love of teaching, has led her to share what she has learned through a blog, articles, webinars and workshops. Nora is the coauthor of The Translator's Tool Box, and the Chair of the American Translators Association Professional Development Committee. She was listed as one of the Top 30 Women in the Language Industry by Multilingual Magazine in 2023, was the recipient of the American Translators Association’s Innovation Award in 2024, and was included in Multilingual Magazine's Language Industry Influencers issue in 2025. 

Omari Jeremiah 

Omari Jeremiah has worked as a freelance Spanish interpreter for over ten years, specializing in the area of educational interpreting, mental health interpreting, and legal interpreting outside of the courtroom. He received his BA in Sociology from Goucher College and his MA in Counseling from the University of Baltimore. Omari is a passionate youth advocate as well as an advocate for language access in educational systems. He has worked as a resource provider for immigrant students and their families in Baltimore City Public Schools and Baltimore County Public Schools. As a licensed interpreter trainer for over nine years, Omari has trained both high school students and multilingual professionals to become professional community interpreters. In addition to his native language of English, Omari is also linguistically competent in Spanish, Swahili, Portuguese, and American Sign Language.  Besides his love for languages, Omari is the author of the children’s book series Paperboy. 

Sarah Stockler-Rex

Sarah Stockler-Rex, MA, CHI-Spanish, has worked as a Spanish interpreter, both on-site and remotely, for nearly 15 years. She currently oversees Equiti's Training & Testing Department: a team dedicated to continuous interpreter skill development and upholding professional standards. A strong believer that skills maintenance is key for interpreters in leadership positions, she still regularly interprets within her local Columbus, Ohio community. Sarah holds a BA in Spanish and Linguistics and an MA in Applied Linguistics with a specialization in Language Testing. She is also a co-author of the highly-acclaimed, first-of-its-kind textbook from Cross-Cultural Communications, The Remote Interpreter: Volume I: Foundations in Remote Interpreting.

Stephanie Sanyour

Stephanie Sanyour is a CCHI-certified Spanish interpreter and translator with over 18 years of experience advancing equitable language access across healthcare, education, and public institutions. Originally from Chile, she has lived in the United States for more than twenty years, and her personal journey informs her commitment to culturally responsive, community-centered language access.

She serves as District Interpreter/Translator for Pflugerville ISD, overseeing language services for 35 schools and collaborating with district leadership to ensure communication with multilingual families is clear, inclusive, and meaningful. Stephanie is also a founding member of the district’s Hispanic and Latino Heritage Fair and ALMA (Advancing Latino Minds through Action), supporting cultural representation and youth leadership in her community.
